Tampa, Florida -- Florida's Sales Tax Holiday is back and starts today!

Round up the kids and their school supplies list right now, because the state is only giving you a three day break on sales tax on clothing and certain school supplies items.

It ends at the end of the day on Sunday, August 5th.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you head out to the stores...The sales tax break only applies to clothing items $75 and under and certain school supplies $15 and under.

Mayor hints legal action if Rays talk to Hillsborough

Tampa, Florida -- Hillsborough County commissioners voted Thursday morning to invite the Tampa Bay Rays to a future meeting to discuss the team's long-term plans.

A few hours later, a Rays spokesperson confirmed the team will accept the offer and attend a meeting.

But St. Pete Mayor Bill Foster indicated Thursday afternoon the stadium saga could end up in a courtroom if the team talks to Hillsborough leaders.

Former GOP presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum encouraged people to show their support for Chick-fil-a by buying food there, Calling it "Chick fil A' appreciation day.

The company's president Dan Cathy was criticized for comments he made about the biblical definition of the family unit.

Plan calls for property tax reduction

Tampa, Florida -- If preliminary plans go into effect, Hillsborough Commissioners will reduce the millage for homeowners next month at its final budget hearings September 12 and September 20.

Commission is proposing reducing the millage rate by 4.24 percent from the aggregate roll-back millage rate. That means a person with a home valued at $165,000 would see a $1 reduction in property taxes.

If the plan goes through as planned it would the 18th consecutive year Hillsborough Commissioners have reduced the millage rate.

Early Voting allows Hillsborough to reduce polling locations, precincts

Hillsborough County, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office (HCSEO) received approval from the Department of Justice to realignm and consolidate voting precincts and polling places in response to the legislative redistricting.

Under the plan, the number of precincts was reduced from 383 to 347, and the polling locations from 285 to 270, HCSEO announced in a recent release.
