Drunk driver visits jail prior to arrest | Crime

Tampa, Florida -- A man was arrested Tuesday night for DUI after he showed up to a jail lobby drunk and drove off.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, around 11:22 p.m., 48-year-old Terry Zimmer showed up at the Orient Road Jail with two other people. Detention deputies noticed they all appeared to be drunk and called patrol officers to assist.

While officers were enroute, Zimmer and another person left. He didn't get far as he was pulled over on Orient Road by police.

Police say Zimmer had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and emitted a strong odor of alcohol. Deputies also found an open bottle of vodka between the driver and front passenger seat.

Zimmer was arrested an charged with DUI.
