Tampa, Florida -- More than 3,000 walkers will converge on Downtown Tampa Saturday morning.
They'll be participating in the Hillsborough County annual Walk to Cure Diabetes.
It kicks off April 14, 2012 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum and runs from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
The chapter hopes to raise more than $433,000 for research on treatments and cures related to diabetes.
"It's great to be partnering with JDRF and working together on such an important goal - promoting awareness of type 1 diabetes and raising funds to advance research," said Corporate Chair John Farley of the McNichols Company.
Registration begins at 8:00am on the Tampa Bay Times Forum plaza. The walk is about 3.2 miles long, starting on the plaza at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, traveling along Bayshore Blvd. to Willow Ave. and returning to the Forum.
According to JDRF, the Walks are held in more than 200 cities worldwide, and nearly 500,000 people nationally walked last year and raised $86 million for research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes.
