County Clerk of Court Candidate supports Chick-fil-A appreciation day | News
Tampa, Florida-- If you noticed larger than usual crowds at Chick-fil-A yesterday, it was part of "Chick-fil-A" appreciation day.
Former GOP presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum encouraged people to show their support for Chick-fil-a by buying food there, Calling it "Chick fil A' appreciation day.
The company's president Dan Cathy was criticized for comments he made about the biblical definition of the family unit.
We received some pictures and a statement from Clerk of the Court candidate Scott Barrish. Here's what he said:
This demonstration is NOT about the CFA’s CEO position on traditional family values. This is all about how GOVT like the Mayors of Boston and Chicago stated they would block the expansion of CFA in their cities DIRECTLY related to Mr. Cathy’s statement. This is a CLEAR violation of Mr. Cathy’s first amendment rights because govt is stating they will punish a citizen based upon a statement they said. As we all know this is completely illegal!
It is completely OK for people to have opposition to Mr. Cathy’s statement. However, if you read Mr. Cathy’s statement very clearly in the interview, he did not disparage gay couples or go on a Holy Roller tirade. Instead, he simply stated his family’s core values and how he tries to live them both personally and professionally. That is it."
